Change your address the right way
Use the official USPS site, then update the rest.
Forwarding your mail is simple, but some lookalike websites charge far more than the official service. Here's how to do it right.
Mail forwarding
- Use the official USPS change-of-address service at usps.com or at a post office
- Online, USPS charges only a small identity verification fee; sites charging much more are not the official service
- Forwarding lasts for a limited time, so update everyone directly
Update these too
- Banks, credit cards and loan servicers
- Employer and payroll
- Insurance (auto, renters, health)
- IRS and state tax agency, if you're expecting mail
- Driver's license and voter registration
- Subscriptions and online shopping accounts
